Atlanta makes cut as a potential World Cup host

Atlanta  is among 23 cities that will be included in the bid by the United States, Mexico and Canada to host the 2026 World Cup.

Of the 23, FIFA will select 16 as host sites for the tournament that will feature 48 teams for the first time in its history.

Atlanta would host games at the $1.5 billion Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of Atlanta United. The soccer configuration can hold more than 72,000.
