Two were killed in a wreck in southwest Atlanta.

A driver and passenger are dead and a woman was critically injured after the driver lost control of a 2006 Ford Mustang in southwest Atlanta, police said Monday.

The car was traveling westbound in the 1400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive when it skidded sideways into eastbound lanes, Atlanta police Officer Donald Hannah said.

At that point, the Mustang collided with an eastbound Ford Fusion.

Jonathan Caplenas, 44, of Lawrenceville, and Misty Luke, 43, of Statham, were killed in the wreck, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The driver of the Fusion, 43-year-old Cande Armstrong, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, Hannah said.

“At this time, criminal charges are not anticipated in connection with this collision,” Hannah said.
