Stranded at the Atlanta airport? Here’s where to spend the night

Atlanta Airport Outage

Power is restored at most of the Atlanta airport, but thousands of passengers remain stranded at Hartsfield-Jackson International on Sunday night.

For people not wanting to stay at the airport tonight, the nearby Georgia International Convention Center is prepared to accommodate up to 10,000 passengers, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said in a press conference. Shuttle service is being provided from the airport to the convention center.

The outage, reported just after 1 p.m. on Sunday, was caused by a fire. All flights into and out of the airport were stopped. Crews were working to re-establish commercial operations by midnight, Reed said.

Shuttles are also being provided to some hotels near the airport. Delta is reimbursing customers who need to book hotel rooms Sunday in Atlanta, according to information on the airline's website.
