Christopher Steele, the former British spy shown in London in a 2017 file photo, wrote the controversial 'Steele dossier' about alleged ties between Donald Trump and Russia.

New allegations about the Steele dossier and its origins should have people asking the FBI to explain its methods in the case. A roundup of editorials Friday takes a look at the issue.

1. How the media buried two huge FBI stories yesterday

From The Federalist: When did President Barack Obama know about the Steele dossier? Why isn’t the media asking that question?

2. What explains the FBI's deep faith in Christopher Steele?

From The Washington Examiner: What caused the FBI to rely on uncorroborated information from Steele?

3. More doubts about Mr. Steele

From The Wall Street Journal: How did Sidney Blumenthal become part of the Christopher Steele dossier story?
