The long-time leader of Georgia’s largest teacher advocacy group has died.

Allene Magill, who served as executive director of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators for 14 years, died on Saturday, according to the group.

Magill, 74, was a “visionary leader” and a “tireless advocate” for educators and public education, PAGE spokesman Craig Harper said. “She never stopped striving to ensure educators had the support they needed to develop professionally, and to provide the best instruction in the classroom and the highest level of leadership, regardless of position.”

Magill, who lived in Dallas, was in charge of an organization that represents 93,000 teachers, school administrators and other educators on everything from legal to legislative issues. No cause of death was given.
