Trump’s speech a sad reflection on U.S.

Trump’s belligerent speech to the United Nations was disgraceful. It obliterated decades of America’s image as the role model in world leadership. The majority of countries in the U.N. have admired and depended on the U.S. for sanity and support of peaceful solutions. Trump destroyed that illusion with his tough-boy rhetoric that will simply hasten the march to war and oppression by rogue players on the global scene. He avoided the real issues posed by Russian aggression and Chinese saber-rattling and focused only on his usual targets with inaccurate statements and childish name-calling. Such a sad reflection on those who blindly support the conservative agenda regardless of the inappropriate standard-bearer, and the dire consequences of his thoughtless commentary.

Presidential hatred on full display at Emmys

I used to be excited when the Emmys or other award shows came on TV. Seeing my favorites from television and the movies, admiring the outfits and laughing at the even-handed jokes from the host made for an interesting night! But last Sunday, I finally gave up about an hour or so into the show. Instead of jokes, there was outright presidential hatred; instead of seeing a variety of favorites, there were only a few shows nominated for absolutely everything and almost no one had anything interesting to say. It was sad. The ratings once again reflected what America is thinking: why am I watching a three-hour, self-glorification of rich people who don’t seem to care about much else than their last rating book?

I don’t think we’ll be watching these shows anymore. Hopefully, we’ll be better off without their terrible jokes.
