Left-wing bias still easily seen on AJC pages

I think you should re-title your second-page news segment “Today’s Explainer – From the Left,” or maybe at least move it to the Editorial Page. The last two that I have read, one a leftist view of the census question about nationality status, and the other a leftist view of the new tax law, make no attempt to report legitimate opposing viewpoints. Of course, even your editorial page is unbalanced. Sunday, April 1, under “Balanced Views,” the left view was unusually reasonable (“Balancing gun rights with common-sense restrictions”), a pertinent issue; while the “From the Right” was reserved for meaningless baseball statistics (“Take me out to the ballgame: season-opening quiz for fans”). Why not present a real viewpoint from the right rather than fill space with “fluff”?

Rolling back gas mileage takes America backwards

Just as I expect my next clothes washer or refrigerator to be more energy efficient and less costly to run, I expect the same of my next car. But EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt continues to take America backwards with his all-out assault on the environment — now, with a war on clean cars (“EPA expected to roll back gas mileage, pollution standards,” News, March 31). Weaker vehicle standards mean we will have to buy more gas to fill new, gas-guzzling cars. The carbon emissions that cause climate change will increase, along with other emissions that pollute our air and harm our health. Pruitt’s job is to protect our environment and health. He should leave current vehicle standards, which have successfully cut America’s oil use and global warming pollution, in place. And to further cut carbon emissions, he, and we, must encourage Congress to enact a carbon fee.
