Opening day ceremony for National Center for Civil and Human Rights

Karen James (left), from Conyers, brought her grandchildren, Faith and Trinity Ladson, to see the ceremony and the museum. The National Center for Civil and Human Rights held its grand opening celebration with a 10 a.m. public ceremony outside in the plaza at Pemberton Place in advance of a noon opening. The ceremony included speeches, and a choir which concluded the ceremony with an emotional performance of "We Shall Overcome." BOB ANDRES / BANDRES@AJC.COM
