Decatur High School will hold a vigil for a graduate killed recently in a DUI crash, attorneys for the victim’s family said in an emailed statement.

Loved ones will hold a vigil for Kennedy Segars at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the school's football stadium at 310 North McDonough Street in Decatur. Segars was a student at Alabama State University and was in town visiting her family when she was killed in the Oct. 13 wreck.

"We look forward to seeing Kennedy's friends, teachers and the Decatur community who she loved so much,” Kennedy's Mother Quavada Moreland said in a release.

Segars, 18, was stopped at a red light near her parents’ home at the intersection of Klondike Road and Mall Parkway near Stonecrest Mall when a driver rear-ended her going more than 70 mph, according to Channel 2 Action News. Her car flipped several times and ended up down an embankment.

Segars died two days after the crash from brain injuries.

“Til’ the day I die, it will still be a pain,” Kennedy’s father Marvin Segars said at the time of her death. “They took my baby at 18. This is just horrible. I don’t want nobody to feel this at all.”

The alleged drunken driver, 52-year-old Reginald Stubbs, survived the crash. He faces four charges, including two counts of first-degree vehicular homicide, DUI, serious injury by vehicle and following too closely, according to jail records.

fundraiser for Segars' funeral costs  raised more than $5,700 by Tuesday afternoon. The goal is $10,000.
