Get ready for hot dogs, fireworks and a ton of red, white and blue: July 4 is right around the corner. There are a variety of ways to celebrate around Gwinnett County, and even a few events before the holiday.

July 3

Prelude to the Fourth and Gwinnett Bicentennial Celebration

The city of Lawrenceville is holding a joint Independence Day and Gwinnett County Bicentennial celebration on July 3. The event begins at 5 p.m. on the Lawrenceville Lawn, with live music from Maggie Baugh and The Swingin’ Medallions. Food, beer, and wine will be available for purchase and the evening will be capped with fireworks.

Red, White & Boom Fourth of July Celebration

The city of Norcross is holding a family block party in honor of Independence Day. Kids can play in the splash pad at Lillian Webb Park, get their faces painted or jump in bounce houses. The splash pad is free, but the face painting and bounce houses require a “nominal fee,” according to the city.

Food trucks will be around the park, or you can visit nearby restaurants for food and drinks. You can also bring your own alcohol, but it must be in a cup no larger than 16 oz. Glass, cans and bottles are not allowed at the park.

The festivities begin at 5 p.m. and fireworks are expected to begin at 9:40 p.m.

Duluth Celebrates America

The city of Duluth’s annual event begins on Duluth Town Green at 5:30 p.m., with food trucks, children’s activities and giveaways. A-Town A-List and the 116th Army Band will provide entertainment. You can bring your own food and beverage (including alcohol) and pets are welcome as long as they are on a leash. Fireworks are expected to begin at 9:45 p.m.

Sparks in the Park

Sugar Hill’s Fourth of July celebration kicks off at 6 p.m. July 3 in E.E. Robinson Park. Electric Avenue will be playing live music and food and drink will be available for purchase. Fireworks will start after sundown.

July 4

Mall of Georgia’s Star Spangled Fourth

The mall’s 16th annual Independence Day celebration kicks off in its outdoor courtyard at 5 p.m., with the Kid’s Zone opening for family-friendly activities. Local cover band The Throwback Experience will play from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by the Mike Veal Band from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. At 9:30 p.m., Mike Veal will sing the national anthem, and then fireworks will be lit at 9:35. After the fireworks are done, stick around to watch “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” for free.

Sparkle in the Park

The city of Lilburn will celebrate the Fourth in Lilburn City Park starting at 5:30 p.m. There will be live music, food vendors and children’s activities. Fireworks will start around 9:30 p.m. No outside alcohol is allowed, but beer and wine will be available for purchase. Pets are not recommended.

Gwinnett Stripers vs. Norfolk Tides

If you like a little baseball with your Independence Day, the Gwinnett Stripers have a special game just for you. The Braves’ AAA affiliate will take on the Norfolk Tides at 7:05 p.m. The game will be followed by fireworks.
