Parkview High School’s champion baseball players got on a major league field for the first time Tuesday night.
The varsity team won its seventh 7A state championship earlier this year and was named national champions in Baseball America’s high school rankings for the third time. That earned them pre-game recognition at SunTrust Park before the Braves took on the Marlins.

The game was rain delayed, so the team didn’t get to watch batting practice on field as planned, but they still got their moment in the spotlight around 9 p.m., shortly before first pitch.
“For a high school kid, that’s quite the experience for them,” said head coach Chan Brown. “They’ll remember this forever.”
Nine of the championship team’s seniors are going on to play college baseball this year, Brown said. For the rest of the team returning to school on Monday, they’ll have a great story to tell when classmates ask what they did this summer.
