Listed on recruiting sites by his birth name, Oyenmwen, Uzebu was considered a three-star prospect by Rivals, ESPN and 247sports. ESPN tabbed him as the 48th best offensive tackle prospect in the country for the 2018 class.

According to 247sports, Uzebu also had offers from Syracuse, Minnesota, East Carolina, Georgia State, Maryland, Kansas, NC State, Pittsburgh, USF and several other schools.

Wearing No. 77 and playing right tackle, Uzebu anchored an Alpharetta offensive line that paved the way for 2,062 rushing yards by Raiders backs this season, according to MaxPreps. Alpharetta, which finished 11-2, rushed for 158.6 yards per game.

Before making his verbal commitment in July, Uzebu told Syracuse.com, "This was a very tough decision, so tough it kept me up at night thinking hard. And I knew that out of the schools me and my family were choosing from, all were amazing and would make me become a great man. Just that one push, just one felt more like home."

Under Dana Holgerson, the Mountaineers finished the regular season with a 7-5 record, placed fourth in the Big 12, and will face Utah in the Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl.
