The Smyrna City Council approved Aug. 6 expenditures related to severe weather radios, audit services and turf maintenance equipment.
The city will spend $58,970 to replace radios that control the 10 Severe Weather Outdoor Warning Sirens from Allcomm Wireless, Inc. of Anniston, Alabama.
This radio system upgrade is required by Cobb County as the final expenditure in the overall citywide radio upgrade project.
In order for the system to activate the siren warning system, Phase II was required to upgrade the sirens to become compliant with the P25 radio upgrade project.
Other approved expenditures are:
- $35,331 per year for a four-year lease of three pieces of turf maintenance equipment from Jerry Pate Turf and Irrigation of Atlanta.
- $28,000 per year for annual financial audit services to the low bidder Nichols, Cauley & Associates, LLC. This contract has the option to renew annually for five years.
