Sandy Springs updates special events policy

Reflecting the city’s newest venue, City Springs, now nearing completion, the Sandy Springs City Council has approved updates to its special events policy for activities on public or private property – such as festivals, runs and concerts – that affect public streets and sidewalks.

“We have seen an increase in special events, which provides an abundance of entertainment options for the community, but we needed a better system to manage the events and bring more certainty to the process for event organizers,” said Assistant City Manager Jim Tolbert.

Those wishing to hold an event at City Springs must apply through rental policies adopted for the venue, submitting a rental inquiry form found on the CitySprings.com website. There are provisions governing alcohol sales and use, and a curfew for live music events on the City Green of 10 p.m. weekdays and 11 p.m. weekends.

Outside City Springs, a special event permit application is required. Previously, organizers were asked to apply 60 days before the event; now, the deadline is 90 days prior.
