The Roswell City Council has approved a resolution creating an East Roswell for Economic Action Committee to identify ways to stimulate economic development on the city’s east side.

The committee would be made up of 10 unpaid volunteers and two city staff members, appointed by the mayor and council, according to the resolution. The study area is the Holcomb Bridge Road Corridor east of Warsaw Road to the Chattahoochee River and the Gwinnett County line.

Seven members would be Roswell residents or business owners or managers from the study area. One each would represent Roswell Inc., the city’s economic development entity, and the Roswell Downtown Development Authority; and one would be a person with expertise in shopping center operations and development.

“The sole purpose of the (committee) … is to make findings and recommendations to Mayor and Council on ways to stimulate and revitalize areas east of Warsaw Road,” the resolution says. The group would meet regularly over 10 to 12 months starting in September.
