Restaurants to provide lunch for all Atlanta fire stations on 9/11

Metro Atlanta restaurants will donate lunch to all 36 Atlanta fire stations on Sept. 11, the 16th anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

Each fire station will be paired with a restaurant in its community, such as Six Feet Under, Paschal’s, R. Thomas Deluxe Grill, IHOP and Hooters.

The Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation partnered with Georgia Restaurant Association to provide one meal for firefighters on the Monday shift. On average, most stations house eight firefighters and can have a maximum of 12 for the day, according to a press release.

Rachel Bell, GRA marketing and communications director, called the restaurant industry “very special and unique.”

“Not only do they provide a sense of community within their four walls, but they have the opportunity to assist outside of their restaurant by helping with a crisis,” Bell said. “It is no surprise that restaurants were willing to jump in and help out with feeding local fire stations.”

GRA used newsletters, social media channels and members to find restaurants to participate.
