Recycle electronics for free at this November event in Alpharetta

When you get a new phone, what happens to the old one?

If you’re one of those folks who just tosses it in a box or drawer filled with other electronics you don’t use anymore, Alpharetta is hosting an event just for you.

On Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon, the city and its Natural Resources Commission will host an electronics recycling event at the Alpharetta Department of Public Works office at 1790 Hembree Road.

The event is free and is open to all residents of Alpharetta and people who operate businesses in the city.

The following items will be accepted…

• Computers
• DVD players & VCRs
• Portable electronics
• Mobile phones
• Computer parts
• Telephones
• iPads and tablets
• Toner cartridges
• Cables and wires
• Calculators
• Monitors
• Printers
• Small electronics
• Laptops
• UPS batteries

A flyer for the event notes that will be a $20 fee for acceptable televisions — projection TVs, console units and TV tubes are prohibited — and there is a $10 charge for CRT monitors.

Event organizers also ask that people not bring small appliances, microwaves, refrigerators, trash, tires, freezers, washers, dryers, ovens or vacuum cleaners.

Businesses that have a large amount of electronics should contact Atlanta Recycling Solutions directly at 678-566-6665 for pick-up options.
