Rail crossing work to cause detours in Bartow, Murray counties

The Georgia Department of Transportation advises motorists to expect detours in the coming days around railroad grade crossing projects in North Georgia.

CSX Transportation will be making repairs along its line north of Cartersville.

Work scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 12-13, will affect Ga. 2 at the CSX tracks in Cisco, in Murray County, GDOT says. The highway will be closed at this location, and traffic will be directed onto Tennga Gregory Road and U.S. 411.

A detour for Ga. 140 near White, in Bartow County, is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 15MapGDOT says. The road will be closed at the railroad, and traffic will be redirected onto I-75 and U.S. 411.

The closing of the two grade crossings “may cause some inconvenience and delays, but it is necessary for repairing the crossing as quickly as possible, and giving the roadway back to the traveling public,” said Grant Waldrop, district engineer in GDOT’s Cartersville office.

All work is “weather permitting” and subject to change, GDOT says.
