The Peachtree Corners Veterans Monument Association recently reported reaching $310,316, about 61 percent, of the $500,000 needed to complete the project.

The ambitious monument to be located in the city’s currently under construction Town Center, will include an oval plaza with engraved bricks, central column supporting a bronze eagle in front of national, state and city flags, six bronze service sculptures forming an Honor Guard for the eagle, six engraved granite benches on a perimeter wall, and engraved granite wall caps. An interactive kiosk with smart phone app will provide information about the sculptures, seats and wall caps, brick locator, veterans of Peachtree Corners, donors, and links to Witness to War and additional historical information.

The estimated $500,000 needed for the project includes design, construction, sculpture materials, and administrative expenses. Sculpture artwork and fabrication is being donated by Chad Fisher of Dillsburg, PA.

The PCVMA has identified nearly 400 of an estimated 1,000 to 1,500 Peachtree Corners veterans for inclusion in the monument’s list of veterans. To participate: www.ptcvets.net; Questions: bob.ballagh@comcast.net.
