An office space designed for professionals who care about civic and social wellbeing will soon open in the historic Sweet Auburn District.
Constellations, located on the second floor of 135 Auburn Ave., was founded by developer and history buff Gene Kansas. The 108-year-old building sits a couple spaces down from the Atlanta Daily World building, the revival of which was also spearheaded by Kansas a few years ago.
The space will offer several types of memberships, including coworking, field offices and private offices, for tenants such as foundations, nonprofits and “purpose-driven companies.”
“Our job is to support other people’s goals, missions and dreams,” Kansas said in a press release. “Through the brilliant people who will occupy this space, we all have the opportunity to see a multitude of positive contributions to Sweet Auburn and beyond.”

Construction is nearly complete and the opening is set for May 1. Amenities include a library, coffee bar, conference room, podcast studio and freshly-baked cookies served each afternoon.

Nearly 70 percent of the tenants are female-led companies and institutions, according to the press release.
The announced tenants are:
• The National Trust for Historic Preservation, Atlanta Field Office
• Georgia Tech’s Ivan Allen College, administering a Residency Program Office in Social Justice
• Georgia State University’s Honors College, and its Residency in Social Entrepreneurship
• Spacelab, a design and research popup concept from Atlanta-based architecture and design firm tvsdesign
• GivingPoint, which empowers youth to take action for social good
• Visual artist and scholar Fahamu Pecou
• Civil Bikes, leading historic bike tours around Atlanta
• Mavenly + Co., which is dedicated to helping women build better careers and lives
• Cognitive Design, a boutique architecture firm specializing in the complex relationships between people and place.
• Exposure Studio, an open studio for storytellers that serves as a place and platform to empower creative vision through tools and community.
