More than 50 shots fired near Cobb little league baseball game

Families said a barrage of gunfire forced them to run for cover at a little league game.

Families fled from a little league baseball game in Cobb County over the weekend as shots rang out nearby, reports Channel 2 Action News.

Cobb police told the station that it isn’t clear what led to the shooting Saturday’s incident at Wallace Park in Austell.

“A war zone. It was terrifying,” Sydnee Fraiser told WSB-TV. “Like pow, pow, pow, pow.” Fraiser said she heard over 50 shots. “I was up against the car, hiding behind the car.”

Records show that a dozen people called 911. No one was injured.

“Even across the way you could see mothers holding their children, girls walking real low to the ground, trying to get out of the way, not trying to get hurt,” said Fraiser.

She said one of the bullets grazed her car.

“I watched them take off running and jumping fences with their firearms, and what happened from there, I don’t know,” said Fraiser.

Police told WSB-TV that they do not know what led up to the shooting nor who might be responsible.
