Metro Atlanta counties to discuss HOA issues at annual meeting

What you need to know about HOA fees

Owning a home can be complicated.

That's the simplified idea behind the 2018 Georgia HOA Boot Camp, an annual event that's being held Saturday in Atlanta. Citizens, political leadership, attorneys and realtors will discuss issues that confront homeowners' associations throughout Atlanta metro counties, a press release said.

Fulton County Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington Jr., who is hosting the free event with the Georgia HOA Alliance, said residents come to the conference “to seek solutions about proper community management and share ideas about how their HOAs should operate.”

“This year’s theme, #MyCommunityMatters, accentuates the need to address local governance and management issues at the homeowners association level,” he said in a statement.

Topics will include efforts to ensure public safety, rental/ownership issues and the need to address HOA rules surrounding community agreements. Public officials sponsoring the discussions include county leaders from Clayton, Cobb, Douglas, Fayette, Henry and Rockdale counties.

Panelists and participants will share problems and solutions regarding HOA issues on social media with the #MyCommunityMatters hashtag.

Continental breakfast will be provided for registered attendees, and parking is free. The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Georgia International Convention Center, 2000 Convention Center Concourse.
