The Johns Creek City Council has approved, with one condition, a special use permit to allow a smokehouse barbecue restaurant with live music, comedy shows and other events in the Medlock Bridge Shopping Center.

The council unanimously approved applicant Denisha Johnson’s request for the proposed, “Route 66” restaurant, with a condition limiting the hours of operation to 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday to Sunday.

The venue, at 6000 Medlock Bridge Parkway, also would host sit-down weddings and corporate dinner parties and retreats.

The applicant already has installed barriers, insulation and soundproofing and completed three sound pressure tests to show the business will meet city requirements to confine noise to the premises, and has agreed to provide reports to the city attesting to noise from qualified professionals, according to a staff report to the council.
