As the remnants of Hurricane Florence continue to impact the Carolinas, Georgia is offering a helping hand to its northern neighbors.
Georgia TERT —short for Telecommunication Emergency Response Taskforce — sent eight 911 dispatchers to North Carolina on Monday.
The communication officers will be working in Sampson County, which is near North Carolina’s coast, between Fayetteville and Jacksonville.

The team from Georgia will provide relief for the staff working in that county by taking 911 and emergency calls and dispatching operations.
The eight from Georgia heading north are:
• Mandy Ptak (Baldwin County)
• Lauren Stallings (Cherokee County)
• Jessica Austin-Hashimoto (Cherokee County)
• Stephanie Jones (Roswell Police Department)
• Savannah Roberts (Paulding County)
• Eve Cogsdell (Paulding County)
• Kailey Gould (Habersham County)
• Beth Alewine (Habersham County)
