A $1,500 community grant from Walmart for the Henry County Police Department’s COPS (community oriented policing services) Unit was officially accepted by the Board of Commissioners by a unanimous vote at its April 17 regular meeting. According to county staff, the grant money will be used to purchase items for the 2018 installment of National Night Out, an annual community-building campaign promoting partnerships between citizens and law enforcement.
This year’s event, which the COPS Unit hosts with funding support from sponsorships and grants from the community, is scheduled for Oct. 18.
