Gwinnett County Public Schools is looking for more substitute teachers.
The district is holding a substitute teacher job fair on Tuesday, Feb. 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will be held at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center in Building 200, located at 437 Old Peachtree Rd. NW.
The requirements to be a substitute teacher are not as strict as those for a full-time teacher. You do not have to be certified to teach, but you must have 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours from a college approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, the group that certifies teachers in the Peach State. Those who do not have a valid or expired teaching certificate must complete the Gwinnett County Public Schools Substitute Teacher Training Program.
Substitute teachers can earn $89 per day, or $99 per day if they are serving in a long-term capacity.
