ORIGINAL STORY: A woman charged with killing her husband and four children, as well as stabbing her fifth child, is set to be arraigned in Gwinnett County court Monday morning.
Isabel Martinez, 34, has been indicted on five murder charges, one aggravated assault charge and one third-degree cruelty to children charge. At an arraignment, the charges against a defendant are read and the defendant is asked to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty.

Martinez called 911 from her Loganville home early on the morning of July 6. When police arrived, they found Martinez with a slashed wrist, 9-year-old Diana Romero suffering from multiple stab wounds, and five dead: 33-year-old Martin Romero, 2-year-old Axel Romero, 4-year-old Dillan Romero, 7-year-old Dacota Romero and 10-year-old Isabela Martinez.
Martinez was detained by police and charged with multiple counts of murder and aggravated assault later that day. Police believe the stabbings occurred between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. on July 6.
Martinez had fallen into a deep depression in the months before the stabbings, neighbors told the AJC. Her father had died and she was unable to attend his funeral in Mexico.
Martinez’s attorneys did not return phone calls from the AJC before the Monday morning hearing.
