The Gwinnett Board of Commissioners recently awarded a contract to make close to a $1 million investment in sidewalk improvements on Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth.

“We are grateful for our partnership with the Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District and for Gwinnett voters who enabled this project to happen by approving the SPLOST sales tax,” said Jace Brooks, District 1 commissioner.

CMES, Inc., the lowest of four responsive bidders at $986,594, will perform the work. The project has two sections: from Shackleford Road to Club Drive and from Old Norcross Road to Satellite Boulevard.

In addition to the sidewalk, CMES will install landscaping, curb and gutter and accompanying drainage structures along the project, which is about 1.15 miles long.

The project is funded by the 2009 SPLOST program and the Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District.
