The local chapter of a democratic socialist group will repair drivers’ brake lights for free in DeKalb County this weekend.

Metro Atlanta Democratic Socialists of America organizers say the clinic aims to prevent "unnecessary police stops that can result in expensive tickets and court appearances."

“By reducing the opportunity for police stops that disproportionately affect marginalized populations, the Metro Atlanta DSA works toward its vision of a more just, humane and free society,” a press release said.

The group, which has gained attention for projecting anti-Trump messages onto the sides of Atlanta buildings, says it plans to hold more public service events in the future.

Volunteers will repair brake lights from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Ingles Market, located at 4815 Rockbridge Road SW in Stone Mountain. The event was rescheduled from Feb. 10 due to the weather forecast.
