Motorcycle safety training will be expanded in Cobb County by the state.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners recently approved a rental agreement between the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) and Cobb County to provide a classroom space and a paved lot for motorcycle safety training.

With the Georgia DDS conducting a motorcycle safety program throughout the state, there is a need for classroom space in the Cobb County area to expand this safety program, Cobb Public Safety Agency Director Sam Heaton wrote in a July 10 memo to Cobb County Manager Rob Hosack.

Cobb County Department of Public Safety (DPS) will provide the classroom space and paved lot at the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course, 1227 Al Bishop Parkway, Marietta to the Georgia DDS for an established fee.

Rental fees collected will be appropriated in the DPS-Training Center revenue account and used for maintenance and utility costs.
