If you’re really good at virtual golf, you may have shot at playing a California course in Atlanta.
Here's the deal: The USGA and Topgolf have launched the first Virtual U.S. Amateur event, played through the World Golf Tour online game. The finalists will win a trip to Atlanta to play an 18-hole match on the virtual Pebble Beach Golf Links, cast on a big-screen TV at the Topgolf Atlanta Midtown location on Sept. 22.
The winner of the inaugural event will receive a $500 Topgolf gift card and a $500 USGA gift card. They'll also get an exemption into the 2019 Virtual U.S. Open on WGT, which has been running as an esports competition for a decade, a press release said.

Contestants can play unlimited qualifying rounds for the event until Aug. 26, and the top 32 scores from the qualifier will be automatically seeded in two 16-player brackets. They will all win 2,000 WGT Credits.
On Aug. 29, competitors will play in single head-to-head stroke-play rounds, and the lowest score between the two players will win the match and advance to the next round. The two finalists will each receive 6,000 WGT Credits and the semifinalists will win 4,000 WGT Credits.
The game is available on the WGT Golf app (through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store), WGT.com and usga.org.
