County adding sidewalks near Gwinnett Place Mall in $1M project

Gwinnett County commissioners approved a contract Tuesday for nearly $1 million to add new sidewalks along Pleasant Hill Road, according to a release.

The 1.15-mile stretch of sidewalks will be split into two sections, one going from Shackleford Road to Club Drive and the other spanning from Old Norcross Road to Satellite Boulevard. Those areas are both near Gwinnett Place Mall.

The $986,594 contract was awarded to CMES, Inc., the lowest of four bidders for the project. The company will install landscaping and drainage systems in addition to the sidewalks, the county said.

The project is funded by the 2009 SPLOST program and the Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District.
