Cops: Well-dressed man tries to break into Gwinnett church


A man tried to break into a Lawrenceville church, but was scared off after triggering an alarm, Gwinnett County police said.

The man, described as “dressed well” in a police report, approached Grafted Church in Lawrenceville shortly before 1:30 p.m. May 10. He tried to open the front doors, which were locked, and then tried to open the back doors, triggering an alarm, a police report says.

When the alarm went off, the man ran to his car and drove away, according to police. He was described as having an athletic build and standing about six feet tall, and was wearing a blue and white striped shirt, khaki pants, brown shoes, a Hurley baseball hat and a light colored watch. His car was a gray “newer model” four-door Kia sedan. 

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Gwinnett County detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Crime Stoppers tips may be rewarded with up to $2,000 if they lead to an arrest or indictment.
