A man allegedly groped a woman during an unauthorized soccer game played on a Marietta school field over spring break.

David Lee Pilgram, of Powder Springs, was arrested Friday on a misdemeanor charge of sexual battery, records show.

After the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s inquiry about the alleged incident, Marietta school district superintendent Grant Rivera sent a note to parents, which is printed in full below.

Rivera’s letter said that a group of teenagers and adults “without our knowledge or permission” played soccer on the field behind Marietta Sixth Grade Academy on Aviation Road about 10 p.m. Friday.

“I share this information because you deserve to know of a recent arrest that was brought to our attention.”

According to a police warrant, Pilgram put his arm around the shoulder of a woman and said “good game” before groping under her shirt with his other hand.

Rivera wrote that the district is discussing with Marietta police how to better secure the campus after-hours.

Pilgram has been in jail since soon after the incident with a bond of $3,500.

Here is the letter sent to parents Tuesday evening:

Dear MSGA Family,

I wanted to make you aware of a situation that occurred during spring break on the field behind Marietta Sixth Grade Academy (MSGA).

On Friday, April 6 at approximately 10:00 p.m., a group of teenagers and adults, without our knowledge or permission, entered the property to play soccer. Allegedly, a man inappropriately touched one of the individuals on the field and was later charged and arrested.

I share this information because you deserve to know of a recent arrest that was brought to our attention. Please know we are in ongoing conversations with the Marietta Police Department about how we can better secure and monitor all school campuses after hours and during school holidays.
