Documents released Monday offer new details in the death of a man gunned down near a DeKalb County middle school and public park.
Sheldon Jones, 26, shot Kenneth Adair, 28, twice in the head while stealing $5,000 from him in a methamphetamine deal, warrants allege. The shooting happened on June 11 between midnight and 1 a.m. in a parking lot at Mark Trail Park across the street from McNair Middle.
A passing police officer found Adair, a Tennessee resident, facedown there off Tilson Road. Jones, who is also listed in police records as Sheldon Ragland, was charged three days later with murder and armed robbery.
Questions still remain in the case.
When found, the victim wasn’t wearing pants, and none could be found nearby, police said.

Officers found a man sleeping on a bench about 50 yards from the body. He was questioned and wasn’t charged with the shooting, but was accused of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Jones was arrested last Thursday and booked under the Ragland name, which he’s used before, though police said his name is Jones.
He remained held without bond on Monday.
