When 60-year-old Frank William Davidson was found shot to death in his Kennesaw carport in 2013, police said foul play was obvious.

Nearly five years later, his widow 58-year-old Sharon Ann Poss, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, according to a Cobb County District Attorney’s office news release.

She pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to voluntary manslaughter.

A neighbor told Channel 2 Action News at the time that she was shocked to learn Davidson had been killed. Ellen Giddings, who lives in a house Davidson owns next door in the 3500 block of Paul Samuel Road, said she had known him for two decades.

“I want to know who did this and how come,” Giddings told Channel 2 back then. “It just doesn’t make any sense.”

Poss has been in Cobb jail since September 2016, but police haven't said what led to her arrest.

The DA’s office said the woman was convicted of aggravated assault against her husband for shooting at him at the same home in 2004.

After the 2013 killing, the home was sold and the new owners began ripping out walls for renovation. There they found bullets behind some of the walls and alerted authorities. Ballistics tests determined those had been fired from the same weapon that was used in the 2004 attack.

Poss will also face five years of probation when she is released from prison.
