Cobb County Government and the Cobb County School District (CCSD) will work together on transportation improvements near two schools.

Intergovernmental agreements between the two entities concern a $2 million roundabout by the county near Lewis Elementary School, 4179 Jim Owens Road, Kennesaw, said CCSD Deputy Superintendent of HR and Operations John Adams during the Sept. 13 CCSD meeting.

A roundabout is a circular intersection where traffic flows around a center island, enhancing safety and increasing efficiency with a higher traffic capacity.

CCSD will pay $6,785 to Cobb to improve the main school driveway.

For the McEachern High School area in Powder Springs, the county will spend about $1.7 million along New Macland Road, Adams said.

CCSD will pay $58,598 to the county for three school driveways and sidewalks at McEachern.

Both projects are expected to begin in May 2019 and be finished in the summer of 2020, Adams added.
