Cobb Mexican eatery found with ‘black substance’ on margarita machine

Georgia has rules it requires every food service operation to follow. These are just a few of the many health and safety regulations.

A Mexican restaurant in Marietta has failed its recent health inspection with a dirty kitchen, according to Cobb County health department records.

Casanova Mexican Restaurant, 1651 Powder Springs Road, scored a 62 on its Wednesday health check. Any score below a 70 is considered failing.

When The Atlanta Journal-Constitution called the restaurant Monday, a person who identified themselves as a manger but refused to give their name, said they didn’t want to comment about the failure. The line disconnected shortly after.

The inspector reported seeing a “black substance underneath the margarita machine” and “heavy accumulations of grease and food debris between and behind equipment” throughout the kitchen.

Salsa was also being held at an unsafe temperature.

The door of the walk-in cooler and the walls were listed in the report as being in “disrepair.”
