A neighbor of a 22-year-old Cobb County man said she never expected to hear he’d been shot to death at home.

But that’s what happened to Kristopher Dixon of Austell, police said.

Cobb County police received a call that someone had been shot in a townhouse on Crestside Drive about 10 a.m. Saturday. When officers arrived, they found Dixon dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said neighbors saw one or two men running from the scene. Authorities are looking for them.

"It's very tragic. It’s very sad,” the neighbor, who asked not to be named, said. “It's sad that our young people, girls and young men, have to die or get killed (and) that's the way that they perish."

She said Dixon’s father told her that Kristopher was his only son.

Another neighbor, Tina Thornton, said Dixon was polite and didn’t bother anybody.

“He was a really nice,” she told Channel 2. “He spoke to me every day.”

Dixon was a tattoo artist who stayed focused on his T-shirt business. His father told neighbors that Dixon was raised to walk away from problems, Channel 2 reported.

“He always like, ‘Hey neighbor! How you doing?’ He was really,” Thornton said. “I just feel for his parents.”

Police said they have not yet identified any suspects.
