Cobb high school hosting first HBCU panel event for students

South Cobb High School is holding an event Wednesday for students to learn about HBCU life.

Several of the nation’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities will be represented at the hourlong gathering, which starts at 6 p.m. inside the school’s theater.

South Cobb administrative staff, school counselors and a panel of HBCU alumni will respond to questions from participants interested in applying to an HBCU.

The event is a first for South Cobb, which is located at 1920 Clay Road in Austell.

Alumni from the following HBCUs will be there: Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, Howard University, North Carolina A&T University, Alcorn State University, North Carolina Central University, Morgan State University, Xavier University, Dillard University, Fort Valley State University, Alabama State University, Florida A&M University and Bethune-Cookman University.
