Sharon Ann Poss, left, and Angel Renee Harris were both recently sentenced to prison in Cobb County cold-case killings.

Two women were sentenced to prison in Cobb County court this week in separate cold-case killings a decade apart.

Sharon Ann Poss, 58, and Angel Renee Harris, 35, each got 15 years in prison with five years probation, according to a Cobb district attorney’s office news release.

“Cold cases are always extremely difficult, but we in law enforcement never give up,” said prosecutor Jesse Evans, who handled both cases. “It’s rewarding to be able to ensure that someone is held accountable for these senseless acts of violence on behalf of our victims’ families, even after such a long period of time. “

When 60-year-old Frank William Davidson was found shot to death in his Kennesaw carport in 2013, police said foul play was obvious.

Nearly five years later, his widow 58-year-old Sharon Ann Poss, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, according to a Cobb County District Attorney’s office news release.

She pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to voluntary manslaughter.

A neighbor told Channel 2 Action News at the time that she was shocked to learn Davidson had been killed. Ellen Giddings, who lives in a house Davidson owns next door in the 3500 block of Paul Samuel Road, said she had known him for two decades.

“I want to know who did this and how come,” Giddings told Channel 2 back then. “It just doesn’t make any sense.”

Poss has been in Cobb jail since September 2016, but police haven't said what led to her arrest.

The DA’s office said the woman was convicted of aggravated assault against her husband for shooting at him at the same home in 2004.

After the 2013 killing, the home was sold and the new owners began ripping out walls for renovation. There they found bullets behind some of the walls and alerted authorities. Ballistics tests determined those had been fired from the same weapon that was used in the 2004 attack.

Angel Renee Harris

Angel Renee Harris hid from law enforcement for 16 years only to be betrayed by her fingerprint.

The Decatur woman was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in prison for shooting Anthony Roberts at a Marietta apartment in 2001, according to a Cobb County district attorney’s office news release.

The 35-year-old woman pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. When she was arrested in October 2016, she told investigators the one shot to the head was an accident.

Roberts’ body was found, eight days decomposed, inside the Ridge Pointe Apartments on Aug. 3, 2001, after neighbors complained of a smell coming from the unit, according to news reports at the time.

Marietta police didn’t find a gun at the scene and the apartment door was locked.

Crime scene technicians lifted a fingerprint from the site of the crime, but it did not match anyone in the national database at the time.

Years later, Harris was convicted of a crime in Fulton County and her prints were added to the database. The next time the print from Roberts’ apartment was run through the system, it matched to Harris. In an interview, Harris admitted shooting Roberts but said it was an accident.

At first, she told police she didn’t know who Roberts was.
