Comedian and actor Chris Tucker's 19-year-old son, Destin, moved into the dorms at Morehouse College this week.

Destin will begin his freshman year in the school's cinema, technology and emerging media studies program, according to a Monday press release.

Tucker thinks his son's decision to go to Morehouse "makes all the sense in the world," according to the statement. Tucker is from Atlanta and was recently awarded an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from Morris Brown College.

Destin, who wants to become a director, said he chose Morehouse because he “knows it will be a top-flight education.” The decision required that he move to Atlanta from southern California.

“I have family here, it’s an all-male school, and it’s historically black,” the Oaks Christian School graduate said.

Destin’s mother, Azja Pryor, and Tucker attended the school’s annual Parent’s Parting Ceremony on Thursday, when families “turn over the guidance of their sons” to the college.

Notable Morehouse alumni include the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Samuel L. Jackson and Tucker's close friend, Spike Lee. Other celebrities whose sons have attended Morehouse include Denzel Washington and Stevie Wonder.

Earlier this year, Reginae Carter, daughter of rapper Lil Wayne, posted a photo to social media in front of a Clark Atlanta University sign. CAU officials would not confirm that Carter was enrolling in the school this fall, but the photo seemed to suggest it.
