The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has scheduled three public hearings in December on amending the county tree, street naming and zoning ordinances.

The hearings are to take place on Tuesday, Dec. 4, the date of the next county board meeting.

Changes to the timber harvesting section of the Tree Preservation and Replacement Ordinance would extend “exemptions” to operations on unzoned tracts, or on property zoned residential and under a conservation use value covenant, subject to meeting certain criteria and requirements.

Changes to the street naming ordinance seek to expedite the process by allowing staff to approve new street and road names administratively. Currently, county commissioners do so by resolution; they will retain sole authority to approve name changes for existing streets and roads.

The zoning ordinance revision applies to manufactured homes and where they would be permitted. Information: https://bit.ly/2OuTvCG
