Woodstock Elementary School robotics team members won at Regionals and now advance to State competition. The team placed first in Robot Design and earned a 100 percent on its Core Values presentation at the First Lego League Super Regionals competition. Julia Cuendet of Suwanee a member of the class of 2021 majoring in mechanical engineering, was named to Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Dean's List.

Joseph Stanca of Alpharetta, a student in the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of New Haven has been named to the Dean's List.

Ninety-three students in the Douglas County School System competed in the county-wide Middle and High School Science and Engineering Fair on Jan. 16. Best in Show for middle school went to Isabella Naile, 7th grader at Chapel Hill Middle School, for her project "Photocatalytic Water: Treatment for Developing Countries." Isabella's supervising teacher is Cheronda Minnis-Arnold. Best in Show for high school went to Ayesha Saeed, 10th grader at Douglas County High School. Ayesha's project was titled "Discovering the Effects of Oxidation on Antioxidants in Tea through Colorimetry." Her supervising teacher is Andrew Adams.

DeMierre Black of Marietta, Richard Shearman of Acworth and Joshua Hayes of Cumming made the Dean's List at Roane State Community College.

Hannah Milstein of Roswell and Emma Orzech of Atlanta have been named to the Dean's List at the University of New Hampshire.

Dr. Melanie Bennett-Sims has received the YMCA of Metro Atlanta's 2018 Volunteer of the Year award for her service at the Wade Walker Park Family YMCA.

Heather Filos of Alpharetta was named to the Dean's List at Delaware Valley University.
