‘Beetlejuice,’ ‘Ghostbusters’ in a downtown Atlanta park this October

There are many free events going on in Woodruff Park you won’t want to miss in October.

Namely, the screenings of Halloween-appropriate classic movies such as “Beetlejuice” and “Ghostbusters.”

Here’s a look at what’s going on in the downtown Atlanta park next month.

Wednesday Night Movies on the Lawn; Oct. 3-24; 6 - 9 p.m.
A lineup of quasi-scary movies will be screened on the main lawn. Food trucks will be on hand, and beverages and popcorn will be available from a cash bar managed by neighboring restaurant 55th and Park. Guests are encouraged to wear costumes to all movie screenings, and prizes will go to those with the best ones.

• Oct. 3: “Beetlejuice.”

• Oct. 10: “The Dark Crystal.” Guests can win passes to Atlanta’s Center for Puppetry Arts, where Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal: World of Myth & Magic is on exhibit.

• Oct. 17: “Ghostbusters.” (The original.)

• Oct. 24: “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Prizes will available for those who ride bikes to the park that evening.

Food Truck Fridays & Lunch on Broad; Oct. 5-26; 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Food trucks park along Peachtree Street perimeter and diners can find seating in the park, on the Broad Street Boardwalk or along Broad Street between Luckie and Walton streets. The weekly event also features a live band performing on the Broad Street Boardwalk.

Saturday Morning Vinyasa Yoga; Oct. 6-27; 9 -10 a.m.

"Atlanta from the Ashes" Walking History Tours; Oct. 4 and Oct. 20, noon -1 p.m.
