Latest Atlanta closings: Georgia Aquarium, Clermont Lounge, Legoland

5:15 p.m. Atlanta Botanical Garden is closed. Pre-purchased tickets for Garden Lights, Holiday Nights may be used any night through Jan. 7.

5 p.m.: Horizon Theatre has canceled two performances due to the weather: Friday evening’s performance of The Santaland Diaries and Saturday's 10:30 a.m. performance of Madeline's Christmas. Guests may exchange tickets for another date. 

Many Atlanta restaurants, including ones at developments, such as Krog Street Market and Ponce City Market, are also closing early. See the list here.

2:55 p.m. A Mental Health America of Georgia fundraising event, Coats & Cocktails, has been canceled Friday and rescheduled for Dec. 20 at Atlantic Station.

2:25 p.m. Business closings due to the weather keep coming. 

The Georgia Aquarium said on Facebook it will close at 4 p.m. Friday and delay Saturday’s opening until 10 a.m. “due to unexpected inclement weather.” It is typically open until 9 p.m. on Friday and opens at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Clermont Lounge is also closed today, according to Facebook.

Legoland has closed early and said it will issue refunds for tickets already purchased for Friday.

Atlantic Station’s “Santa’s Cottage” is has closed as well.

City of Atlanta offices remain open to avoid putting more cars on the road. 

The Atlanta Ballet has cancelled Friday's performance of the "Nutcracker."

1:05 p.m.: As snowfall has intensified, businesses and schools have started to close early. 

Atlanta Public Schools is closing early.

Zoo Atlanta closed at 1 p.m., a few hours earlier than it normally does. 

And the opening of the ice skating rink at Atlantic Station has been delayed. A decision about “a later opening” will by made by 4 p.m., according to Facebook. 

10:40 a.m.: Sleet mixed with snow has begun to fall in Atlanta. The city will open the Central Park warming center, located at 400 Merritts Avenue NE, at 1 p.m. 

9:50 a.m.: City of Atlanta offices are open during normal business hours Friday. 

A winter weather advisory has been issued for areas that include the city. It is expected to last through 7 a.m. Saturday.

Late Thursday evening, the city reminded everyone that its Facebook page is verified. The message was in regards to a post from a parody page that said a state of emergency has been declared.

The parody post has been shared more than 23,000 times.

Atlanta Public Schools are also open Friday, as officials do not anticipate inclement weather to hit its region until after classes are over.

The northwest part of the metro area, including Cobb and Cherokee counties, started to see snow just after 6 a.m., according to Channel 2 Action News.
