Atlanta college students may apply to compete for a hefty prize, including services to help build their business.

The Atlanta chapter of Entrepreneurs' Organization, a global business network, is calling for local entries in the first round of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards. The student entrepreneurs will present their business to judges on Nov. 9 at Georgia State University's Buckhead Center, 3348 Peachtree Road.

The regional winner selected that day will move on to the national competition in Denver, Colorado. The final prize — $25,000 cash and prizes totaling more than $40,000 — will be awarded at the final international celebration in Macau, China, in April.

The deadline for the Atlanta qualifying competition is Oct. 28. Competitors must be college students who also own a for-profit business that has generated $500 in revenue or received $1,000 in investments by the time of application. The business must have been in operation for at least six consecutive months.
