The city of Alpharetta has set an opening ceremony and dedication April 26 of the Alpharetta & Old Milton County History Museum.

The museum is in City Hall, 2 Park Plaza. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and will offer music and refreshments, according to a city announcement.

More than four years in the making, the museum will tell the history of Alpharetta from its earliest days as part of the Cherokee Indian Territory, through its years as the county seat of the vanished Milton County, to its emergence as a 21st Century technology center.

It will have a permanent collection of artifacts, interpretive displays and a Stories Project kiosk where people can hear 70 local residents speak.

The museum was funded by the city, developed in partnership with the Alpharetta Historical Society, and put together under a more-than $300,000 contract by Malone Design/Fabrication, a Decatur-based creator of museum and visitor center exhibits. Information: https://bit.ly/2HCJ9kQ
