Clint Rucker, the Fulton County prosecutor who won a conviction in the murder of Diane McIver by her husband, Tex, wrote a poem in her memory that he read in front of her friends and others Wednesday.

Rucker, who was named the 2018 assistant district attorney of the year at the Prosecuting Attorney's Council of Georgia summer conference last month, was honored by the Fulton County commission and District Attorney Paul Howard for his work. Howard said Rucker has a 98 percent conviction rate in cases, which include McIver's, the Brian Nichols courthouse shooting case and convictions in the Atlanta Public Schools cheating scandal, among other high-profile cases.

Diane McIver friends Dani Jo Carter, Ken Rickert and others came to support Rucker, who read a poem he wrote, in addition to thanking his family, fellow prosecutors and others for their support. Rucker also read the poem during the trial’s closing arguments.

The poem, which is untitled, follows:

Who will stand for the little girl

Murdered and all alone

Who will stand for the little girl

Dead and without her own

Who will stand for the little girl

She came from humble means

Who will stand for the little girl

She fulfilled all of her dreams

Who will stand for the little girl

She achieved great success

Who will stand for the little girl

Her love for Austin was endless

Who will stand for Diane McIver

She knew betrayal, hurt & pain

Who will stand for Diane McIver

He coveted her money again & again

Who will stand for Diane McIver

A great woman she tried to be

Will you stand for truth & justice

As she cries out, “Who will stand for me?”
