Dec 17, 2017
Shortly after power was restored at much of Atlanta's airport on Sunday night, people began lining up at the security checkpoint.

The crowd in the atrium at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport erupted with cheers when power came on after a 10-hour outage.

The airport atrium, Concourses T, A, and B and terminals were passengers check in and retrieve baggage powered up at roughly 11:20 p.m. Concourse F had been brought back online earlier in the evening.

Mayor Kasim Reed announced shortly before midnight that the entire airport had been fully restored.

The outage was caused by a fire between 12:30 and 12:45 p.m. The intensity of the power also took out a back-up system, and Georgia Power workers were delayed from addressing the issues for hours.
